As part of their 2019 UK Tour we're delighted to be promoting the Bristol show this summer.
The Spooky Men’s Chorale are the gift that keeps on giving…as thunderous as a herd of wildebeest, as sly as a wagonload of Spike Milligans and as sonorous as a cloister of monks.
The man-choir emerged blinking-eyed from the Blue Mountains of NSW eighteen years ago and armed with no more than their impressively cavernous vocal chords, a nice line in deadpan, improbable facial hair and an ill-matched set of hats, have been gleefully wooing audiences throughout Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Europe ever since.
Renowned for a combination of Visigothic bravado, absurdist humour and eye-moistening tenderness, the Spookies, in middle age, are more masters of their territory than ever before, with five critically-acclaimed albums under their belt.
Brandishing a shiny brand new CD ‘Welcome To The Second Half’, the magnificent, craggy ensemblage of heavenly singing male bodies return to the UK in 2019, ever more comfortable with their whimsical humour and musical breadth – a winning spectrum of Georgian songs, pindrop-beautiful ballads, highly inappropriate covers, and immaculate man-anthems.
Their last UK tour saw a large number of sell-out concerts at major venues and a whole raft of ecstatic festival audience reactions. You must see them. Really, you must.
“Inspired – and a triumph of choreography! Catch them on the road – a fantastic night out is guaranteed!” Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio 2
“High camp, epic folly – probably the best programming choice of the entire summer festival circuit’– The Irish Times
“Highly theatrical, they veer from weird to touching and back again. Grown up entertainment in the best, most infantile way. Don’t miss an opportunity to see them” – Daily Telegraph

Shhhh! The Spooky men are back in the UK for another monster tour but they're having a secret warm-up gig in Bradford on Avon for special people.
The Spooky Men's Chorale is a vast, rumbling, steam powered and black clad vocal behemoth, seemingly accidentally capable of rendering audiences moist eyed with mute appreciation or haplessly gurgling with merriment. Based on the twin pillars of grand foolishness and the quest for the perfect subwoofer-rattling boofchord, the Spooky Men seek to commentate on the absurdity and grandeur of the modern male armed only with their voices, a sly collection of hats and facial hair, and a twinkle in the eye.
In live performance, the Spooky Men draw on a combination of musical and theatrical values which are elusive and multifarious. Notable themes and antecedents include Georgian male polyphony, a running joke on man as a vast, oblivious useless object, whispers of clown, bouffon and Monty Python, and forays into massively pleasurable grunting tribalism. The audience are invited to first joyously endure a wall of mansound, then laugh stupidly, then venture into areas of great tenderness. It is ideally not so much comedic as hilarious, not so much shimmeringly perfect as pleasingly and deeply human.
